Overview
Petly Plans integrates with Authorize.Net Account Updater (AU), if enabled, to automatically update your clients’ stored credit card information—account numbers and expiration dates—once a month.
This helps prevent payment declines, lost sales, and service interruptions.
When It Runs
- AU starts on the 4th of each month and runs in batches until month-end.
- Enable AU before the 3rd → Updates start that month.
- Enable AU on/after the 4th → Updates start next month.
- AU reports are available the following month.
Permission Level
- Authorize.Net Account Owner access required.
Things to Know
- Available only for U.S./North American processing accounts.
- Cost: $0.25 per card updated.
- Delete unused payment profiles in Petly Plans to avoid unnecessary charges.
- Updates Visa® and MasterCard® only.
- Petly Plans checks for changes nightly and emails designated admins if a card is updated.

Note: “Contact Card Holder” means the card may be lost, stolen, or replaced. Exact reason is not provided by Visa/MasterCard.
Steps
1. Sign Up for Account Updater
- Log into Authorize.Net Merchant Interface.
- Click Tools > Account Updater.
- Click Sign Up Now.
- Under Industry Information, click Look Up.
- Search for 742 and select 742 VETERINARY SERVICES.
- Click SELECT MCC.
- Agree to terms and click I Agree.
Registration takes ~2 hours.
2. View Account Updater Report
- Log into Authorize.Net Merchant Interface.
- Click Reports > Account Updater Reports.
- Select the month and click Run Report.
- To view more than 100 records, use Download to File.
3. Cancel Account Updater
- Log into Authorize.Net Merchant Interface.
- Click Tools > Account Updater.
- Click Discontinue Account Updater Service.
Canceling applies to future batches only.
